Assiut University Hospital operates 24 hours, divided as follows:
Clinics Department and starts from 9 am to 1 pm daily except Friday and Saturday
The emergency department operates 24 hours a day (internal medicine - pediatrics - obstetrics and gynecology - orthopedics - surgery)
On 1/1/2016, the Assiut University Council approved the establishment of the New Assiut University Hospital, and the accreditation was approved by the approval of His Excellency the Prof. Dr., Minister of Higher Education and the State for Scientific Research, President of the Supreme Council of Universities.
New Assiut University Hospital is located in the Zohour district of New Assiut city on an area of 10500 square meters.

Assiut University Hospital is considered one of the largest university hospitals at the level of the Arab Republic of Egypt. This medical edifice was inaugurated by the President / Mohamed Hosni Mubarak in 1987 AD. The total number of beds in university hospitals reached nearly three thousand beds, of which 92% are free beds and 8% are private and economical treatment beds. And contracts with governmental and non-governmental bodies, the proceeds of which are allocated to spend on the needs of the free department and the unable patients.
The outpatient clinics receive about one million patients annually from all governorates of Upper Egypt from Beni Suef to Aswan, Halayeb and Shela Tin in the south, in addition to patients from the governorates of the New Valley and the Red Sea.
Assiut University Hospitals organize medical convoys to places deprived of specialized medical services throughout Assiut Governorate, and the activity of convoys extended to the New Valley Governorate and the Red Sea Governorate.
