National Institute of Diabetes and Endocrinology

National Institute of Diabetes and Endocrinology is considered one of the oldest units of the General Authority for Hospitals and Educational Institutes, as it was among four units included in the authority when it was established by a presidential decree in 1975.

The Institute has a therapeutic role for patients with diabetes, thyroid and other endocrine diseases (and is not limited to the care of diabetics only). It also has a preventive role (from complications) and an educational role as well as a research role. The institute provides medical, treatment, pharmaceutical, educational and training services.

The department includes four beds equipped to receive cases of diabetes and coma (the department is being developed to include 11 beds in the coming months). All cases, no matter how difficult they are.

The department was developed and provided with the latest equipment and training of the department’s staff until it became one of the advanced departments in the field of diagnostic and interventional radiology. The department has regular x-rays, duplex x-rays on arteries and veins, ultrasound on endocrine glands, as well as the internal cavity and pelvis (a CT-ray machine is being supplied from Consolidated Procurement Authority).

The department includes 18 beds for critical care and post-operative catheter care, and it consists of a group of highly qualified consultants and specialists from all specialties, following infection control procedures and international and Egyptian standards and evidence.

The laboratories department has been developed and equipped with the latest equipment to provide high accuracy in the results of the analyzes and the speed of examination.
